The Broadcasters Foundation of America is the only charity dedicated to supporting radio and television broadcasters facing financial need due to a medical crisis, natural disaster, or family care. The BFOA has expanded its mission to include educational and professional development for future broadcasters through networking events, internships, and the BFOA Scholarship Program.

Awardees will receive a one-time, $10,000 scholarship to help with their academic pursuits. The funds will be sent directly to the bursar's office of the applicant's academic institution. 

BFOA Scholarship Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have an immediate family member (parent or guardian) that works/has worked, for a consecutive five (5) year period, in the broadcasting industry
  • Be currently enrolled (full-time) as a rising sophomore or junior at a public or private college/university in the United States
  • Be studying communications or broadcasting with the intent to enter one of these fields or a related field after graduation
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a professor in an applicable field of study
  • Provide proof of enrollment via a copy of your transcripts
  • Provide FAFSA Student Aid Report
  • Optional: Applicants can provide a sample of work from a college class (it can be a link to a video, presentation, paper, article, etc.)
